From the point of view of investors, the biggest strengths of the region include: favourable geographical location and accessibility, access to highly skilled workforce, well-developed economic infrastructure, the country’s major scientific and research potential of the Łódź universities and research centres (including: Technopark and BioNanoPark), attractive offers for investors in 44 subzones of the Special Economic Zone of Łódź with already over 200 operating businesses, to include: Dell, Procter and Gamble, Fujitsu Services, and Gillette. The fastest growing sectors of the economy are power engineering, textiles, biotechnology, agro-food processing, ICT, and BPO.
A lot of reputable corporations have invested their capital in the voivodeship. The total foreign direct investment amounted to nearly 2 billion Euro, and as a result 15,000 new jobs were created.
The region owes this result to the specificinvestment advantages attracting this way a considerable foreign capital.
The Łódzkie Voivodeship, as one of the first in Poland, has created a database of lands designated for investmentsbasing on the Regional Investor Service Centre.. The RISC provides assistance in acquiring land for investment and in the first period of a business activity. The number of well-prepared lands for investment is growing – such as in the area of the Kleszczów Industrial Zones (over 300 hectares), the Special Economic Zone of Łódź (around 900 hectares) and the Boruta Zgierz Industrial Park (173 hectares).
